What NSBE means to you: NSBE to me is one of the largest networks of both students and professionals from diverse backgrounds that I glad to be a part of. I can honestly say NSBE molds students into leaders not just workers. As leaders we try to fulfill one mission......To increase the number of culturally responsible black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community.

 

Year Goals: My goal for this year is for my executive board is to leave behind a legacy for up and coming eboards to follow by establishing annual programs that will become part of our chapter’s history: two of these programs being an End of the Year Recognition Banquet and a NSBE1213 Scholarship.

One interesting fact: I have served on the chapter executive board for three years.

What NSBE means to you: It is an organization where students can interact, take on responsibilities, enjoy themselves, develop leadership skills, and grow as a professional engineer. 
Year Goals: To increase the student bonds between all the engineering majors.
One interesting fact: I've been to Ghana.

What NSBE means to me: As a NSBE member since high school, NSBE is very special to me. NSBE is an organization that allows Black engineers to network with other successful African Americans and offers exposure to corporate America and the many opportunities available in such a diverse field.
Year Goals: As Treasurer, I plan to work with the Finance Committee to help fundraise and get funds to help subsidize the costs of conferences and trips. I also plan to contact major companies and corporations to increase corporate sponsorship.
One interesting fact: I am the President and CEO of my own company, Wayne Kimball, Jr. International.

What NSBE means to you: NSBE is such an empowering organization. The accomplishments made over the years by the chapter, and on national levels as well, are extremely commendable. Therefore, in a word, NSBE means..."greatness".
Year Goals: Set up a sufficient system for a collection of information for all those interested in going on the conferences, Set up a convenient payment plan for FRC and Nationals, Nationals: Have 100+ active participants of NSBE to go the conference.
One interesting fact: I did a co-op from January to August of 2007 in Cedar Rapids, IA with Rockwell Collins.

What NSBE means to me:  The organization opens numerous doors for any student striving to succeed. It is an assurance to many who lose hope that students can make a difference if they try.

Year Goals: This year I plan to have more programs that are more valuable to the NSBE general body and those outside of the general body. I would also like to incorporate more ideas for programs from not only the executive board but also the general body.

One interesting fact: I worked for the Geek Squad.

What NSBE means to you:  I am proud to be a part of the NSBE organization.  NSBE helps develop students into well-rounded engineers.  I strongly believe in NSBE's mission statement, and will try my best to help North Carolina A&T’s NSBE chapter 1213 continue to grow as an organization. 

Year Goals:

  • To create an electronic resume book that will continue on years and years after me, and will give companies opportunities to view some of the top engineering students here at A&T.
  • To build on the NSBE/Inroads partnership while advertising Inroads to freshman and sophomore students. 
  • To get companies to build a corporate relationship with North Carolina A&T NSBE chapter for sponsorship, and to help corporations advertise opportunities at their company.

One interesting fact:
I am an African-American with green eyes.


Name: Briana Lyles

Position: Public Relations Chair

Major: Industrial Engineering

What NSBE means to me: NSBE is a society where black engineers can get together and learn more about their major, career opportunities, and perform community service together in the community. NSBE, to me, is creating awareness for the youth about engineering and getting them informed about college and the various engineering disciplines.

Year Goals: My goals this years are to make above a 3.5 GPA and be the best leader I can be in all of the organizations that I am a part of. I plan to volunteer more in my community as well as on campus.

One interesting fact: I have been a member of NSBE since my 9th grade year in high school.

What NSBE means to me: “NSBE is an excellent organization that allows engineering students to grow professionally and network while building relationships with students of other engineering disciplines.”

Year Goals:   My goal this year is to produce effective newsletters and bring more dedicated students to the NSBE family.

Interesting Fact: I am the President of Upsilon Pi Epsilon Computer Science Honorary Society.

What NSBE means to me: NSBE is a chance for young black engineers to be part of an organization that will build them up professionally and allow them to make a difference in their communities in order to better themselves for the future.

Year Goals: As freshman development chair my main goals are to ensure that the transition period for incoming freshman is smooth and successful through a number of programs and events. I would also like to ensure that they continue by becoming active members in NSBE throughout their college career.

One interesting fact about me: I have a small heart murmur so my heart beats 3 times instead of two.

What NSBE Means To Me: Friendship, Action, and Opportunity. You are surrounded by people you can talk to and have fun with. You work together to help those in the school and community, and bring awareness of STEM to those around you. You have the opportunity to meet many people, go many places, and play any role you want within the organization.

Year Goals: To become a more active integrated member of the organization while strengthening the sister PCI Chapters and forming new connections in the community. Assist the PCI chapters in making a mark within their community and this organization.

One Interesting Fact: When I was in elementary school I along with my sister were featured in a calendar for the entire city of Hampton school board

What NSBE means to me:NSBE is the ultimate source for networking with companies, engineers, and your peers. NSBE is the center of the "Black Engineer's" world creating a place for learning, teaching, and bonding. It is a place where black engineers can come together and support one another.
Goals:My goal is to become more organized and even more involved with engineering
Fact:I originally wanted to be a neonatologist, prenatal care doctor.

What NSBE means to me: Developing Growth as a Person, Networking with others, Creating Opportunities, Gaining career skills and experiences, Reaching Goals, Achieving Dreams, Becoming a better student, citizen, and person!
Year Goals: Go to Nationals, Increase my GPA, create my career opportunities, and Search for another internship for the summer!
A Fact about me: My senior year of high school, I took 13 credit hours of College courses at NC A&T, which means I finished all my high school requirement classes in 3 years instead of 4 years.

What NSBE Means To Me: NSBE is a medium for African American Engineers to grow academically, mentally and professionally.  This organization prepares students for the professional world while instilling them with the skills necessary to succeed. 

Year Goals: As Miss NSBE, I plan to encourage the general body to take it upon themselves to choose leadership and create change rather than wait for it. As well as to make the A&T NSBE Chapter a driving force on campus available to all majors.

One Interesting Fact: My number one goal in life is to become a published author and make the NY Times Best Seller’s List.

What NSBE Means To Me: NSBE is important to me because it helps me network with my fellow colleagues.  It also helps me gain valuable job experience and people skills that I may need for the future.

Year Goals: My goal this year is to obtain a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester
